Brian O’Neill is a proud native of the Central Coast and is thrilled to join his uncle, Dan O’Neill, practicing law in San Luis Obispo. Brian’s family roots in the county date back to the 19th century, where his great grandparents harvested along Los Osos Valley Road and rural Paso Robles. Not surprisingly, he’s excited to continue the tradition of a family business in San Luis Obispo county.
More than simply carrying tradition though, Brian is energized to dedicate himself to the community of San Luis Obispo. After graduating with a Bachelors of Arts degree in History and a minor in Law and Society from Cal Poly, Brian joined the Law Office of Daniel O’Neill as a legal assistant. Through this experience, Brian was exposed to the intricacies of an established serious personal injury practice and provided him the wherewithal to jump towards the profession fully enlightened on what it means to be a trial lawyer.
Brian soon set off to law school where he graduated Magna Cum Laude (high honors) from Santa Clara University. Among other academic accolades, Brian was inducted into the prestigious Order of the Coif. While in law school, Brian clerked for the San Luis Obispo District Attorney’s Office and as a Judicial Extern to Honorable Julie A. Emede of the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara. Relationships and family are paramount priorities to Brian, and with his strong roots to the area, returning to advocate for those wrongfully and negligently injured on the Central Coast was an obvious and clear path home.
As a lawyer admitted to practice throughout the state of California, Brian is committed to achieving justice for all the firm’s clients. Working alongside a seasoned attorney like Dan O’Neill, both within and outside the courtroom, routinely affords Brian the opportunities to shape his toolbox as a proficient, respected, and determined litigator. But Brian’s compassion for the firm’s clients is his galvanizing force. The Law Office of Daniel O’Neill steadfastly believes in representing the whole person with empathy, care, and concern. This approach, made famous by Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyers College, is what sets us apart from many other skilled attorneys.
Even in his young legal career, Brian achieved success through oral and written argument at private arbitrations and at the California Superior Court. He’s also one of the few attorneys to argue before the California Court of Appeal before reaching one year in legal practice.
When he’s not at his desk or in the courtroom, you’ll commonly find Brian hiking the hills on the Central Coast, taking in a baseball game, dabbling in too many hobbies he doesn’t have time for, or spending time with loved ones. He also sits on the board of directors for an organization near and dear to his heart, Court Appointed Special Advocates of San Luis Obispo County.
